Pet Grooming
Pet Grooming is all about how you take care of your pet and this includes bathing, hair maintenance, nail care , ear care , paw care and even dental care.
Bathing: It is fine if you bathe the dog one a month. The bathing time should go along with the schedule of the flea protectant. Some of the dogs don’t like bathing but on the contrary prefer swimming. Whenever you are bathing the dog be sure that the bathroom floor is not slippery.
Avoid using the faucet but instead use the hand held shower head. Put cotton balls in the ears of the dog so that the water does not enter the ears. Be careful about the shampoo that you use. Always read the instructions mentioned on the packet and then use it. A dog’s shampoo is for dogs only and not for the cats. The best way to dry is towel drying. Be careful when you use the blow dryer. If you use the blow dryer it should be at the lowest setting.
Usually cats don’t need bathing just because they are good self groomers. A bath may be necessary only when the cat is infested with fleas or the skin has become unhealthy.
Coat care or hair care: The dogs should be brushed daily. The lifestyle and the type of coat vary from pet to pet and animal to animal. If your dog is not losing a lot of hair then you may brush it on alternate days.
Both cats and dogs love brushing provided they have been made habituated to this at an early age. The timing of brushing the hair should remain the same every day. First the back should be brushed and then you should make the way to the front. Be careful while brushing because you should not brush the skin. The long haired cats need to be brushed every day. The knot or mat can be loosened by using a hair coat conditioner.
A clean and dry coat is a mark of a healthy coat. The coat should be neither dirty not greasy.
Ear care : Some of the dogs have big ears while some have ears that are closed over crating a breeding ground for the bacteria inside it. The earns need to be cleaned because of this and also because of wax.
Eye care : Most of the eye care concentrates on tears that fall from the eyes and stain the coat.
Nail Care: Nails of the cat can be easily distinguished from the rest of the paw and so is easy to trim . This is not the case with dogs because distinguishing them from the paw is a bit difficult.
